Coming Soon to Hakone: A Luxury Mountain Escape Where Every Room Has Its Own Hot Spring

Date:

HAKONE, JAPAN – Planning your dream Japanese getaway? Mark 2029 on your calendar. Hotel Okura is bringing something special to Hakone—a beautiful mountain resort where you can soak in your own private outdoor hot spring right from your room.
The new Okura Resort Hakone Gora will be Hotel Okura’s first resort in Japan, and they’re not holding back. All 58 rooms will have private open-air baths filled with real hot spring water from Owakudani, one of the area’s most famous volcanic sources.
Hakone has long been a favorite escape for travelers seeking natural beauty and relaxation, welcoming close to 20 million visitors every year. Now, working with Nishimatsu Construction, Hotel Okura is creating what designer Gwenael Nicolas calls a “Forest Hideaway”—a place where luxury meets nature.
When it opens in 2029, you’ll also be able to enjoy indoor hot springs, saunas, delicious teppanyaki dining, and a stylish bar where you can unwind after a day of exploring. It’s the kind of place where you can truly disconnect and recharge surrounded by mountains and authentic Japanese hospitality.
