The European Union has underscored its expanding partnership with the United Arab Emirates, emphasizing the broadening scope of cooperation that now includes trade, investment, climate initiatives, artificial intelligence, technology, and security. According to an EU statement, the relationship has evolved from diplomatic engagements into a comprehensive economic, political, and security alliance, driven by geographical proximity and mutual trade and investment interests.
The UAE stands as the EU’s second-largest trade partner, while the European bloc is the UAE’s top investment partner. This significant economic interaction has paved the way for collaboration in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, clean energy, and technology, further strengthening regional connectivity.
In the wake of their cooperation at COP28, the EU and UAE are pursuing opportunities to advance the green economy and artificial intelligence, enhance connections between Europe and the Middle East and North Africa, and facilitate the exchange of technology and expertise.
Additionally, the EU has reported ongoing collaboration with the UAE to bolster regional security and resilience in response to escalating security challenges. This joint effort highlights the strategic importance of the partnership in addressing both global and regional issues.
