Hungary Climbs to First in Europe’s Water Polo Standings

Hungary’s water polo teams have achieved impressive standings in the latest European Aquatics rankings, with the men’s team securing the top spot and the women’s team coming in second. The rankings, which evaluate the performances of senior and youth national teams over the past three years, highlight Hungary’s consistent success across key tournaments.

The Hungarian men’s water polo team emerged as the leader after placing within the top six in all eight tournaments assessed. Notably, the team clinched silver medals at both the senior European Championship in Belgrade and the U16 European Championship in Istanbul. Following Hungary, Serbia holds the second position in the men’s rankings, while Spain is ranked third.

In the women’s category, the Netherlands lead the rankings, having successfully defended their European title in Funchal. Hungary follows closely in second place, with Spain rounding out the top three. This strong performance by Hungarian teams underscores their prowess in European water polo.

Additionally, European Aquatics released a combined ranking that considers the performances of both men’s and women’s teams. Hungary also leads this overall category, demonstrating their dominance across both genders. Spain and Greece follow in the combined rankings, showcasing their competitive edge in the sport.
